Russell's features most of the sandwhiches you'd expect from a sandwhich shop: turkey, ham and her famous BLT. Also available are local (and we do mean local!) grass-fed beef, pork and goat; eggs, cheeses, yogurts. If you're looking for fresh, organic produce, the Saturday Farmer's Market provides a bounty from farms right here in town, and neighboring Bloomville.
Russell's also purveys fresh-baked goods from our own kitchen as well as bread from Bovina's own bakery, Breadfellows, whose breads, pies, cakes and tarts are famous throughout the region.
Russell's shelves are lined with dry- and canned goods, locals specialties such as honey, maple syrup, candles, soaps and coffee. Also for sale are charming home goods and housewares from all over the Catskill region and beyond.
It's Bea's signature, mouth-melty breakfast sandwhiches, however, that bring people from all over the county and beyond that has put Russell's on the map as a must-visit culinary hot-spot. Made with locally-sourced eggs, cheese, bacon and toasted ciabatta bread, Bea's egg sammys have made Russell's a destination for hungry locals and savvy travellers throughout the region.
As indy music sensation Kenny Mellman (Kiki and Herb, The Julie Ruin) said in his guest blog post for AmateurGormet.com:
"It was the best egg sandwhich I had ever had in my life!! Some ciabatta-esque bread, perfectly toasted and buttered, farm fresh eggs, local chedder cheese and a thick cut bacon, I had really never ever tasted something so perfect. I thought it might be because we were hungry and had been eating beef jerky and string cheese at night. So the next day we persuaded Murray and Jo and our friend Carmine to stop by and try it. THEY WERE THE BEST EGG SANDWICHES THEY HAD EVER TASTED!"
